West Campus

In 1998 DSS opened its West Campus in Lakewood. DSS is a fully accredited 9th-12th-grade high school. Because we seek to remove as many hurdles from our students’ paths as possible, we offer in-school childcare for teen parents, tuition assistance, transportation assistance, and the opportunity to seek dual-enrollment with local community colleges to enrolled students.

Lillian Henshaw - English - Vice Principal

I’m Lillian Hinshaw and I’ll be teaching English literature and creative writing. I grew up in Colorado but have moved around quite a bit, ending up in places like California, Kansas, Chicago, and Perú. I graduated from North Park University with a degree in English, Creative Writing and Secondary Education. Since graduation, I have spent my time working with various organizations that serve orphaned children or youth from hard places in the Denver Metro area. I adore the outdoors, am passionate about justice, storytelling, and education. I am so blessed to be able to join in on the great work happening here at Denver Street School.

Abigail Tonda - Math - General

Abigail spent her childhood in small-town Illinois and has since fallen in love with Colorado and moved her life here. After graduating from college, she followed her passion for advocating for those experiencing oppression. She did this by becoming a case manager at a homeless shelter in Denver. She began volunteering and tutoring at the Denver Street School in August of 2018, and slowly transitioned into full time teaching in the winter of 2019. She teaches a wide variety of classes, including Math, Art, Computer Skills, and Sex Education, and is passionate about bringing the curriculum creatively to her students.

Vicki Tanin - PROPEL - Electives
Vicki has worked at the Denver Street School for many years in various roles.  She is currently teaching PROPEL, Life Skills, Computers, and Photography.
Patrick Fisher - Social Studies - Rhetoric
Patrick Fisher was born and raised in Southern California where he mastered the art of English at Cal State University, Fullerton. In California, he worked as a Classical Education Teacher and a Spiritual Resource Leader. Now in Colorado, he trains padawans in the ways of World Studies, Bible, and Rhetoric. He loves Denver Street School and enjoys challenging his students to think deeply about God, life, and the world around them. His love languages are food and quality time. He is a spoken word artist and a board game maker. His lifelong partner in crime is his beloved wife, Katie Fisher. In the future, they plan to go overseas to share the good news of Christ to an unreached people group.
