Service Projects

Each student gives back to the community at least two hours every quarter.
Many choose to serve in every opportunity that is offered…

Our students giving e back to the community.
They went to a local elementary school and were able to help with literacy games.
This allows our students the opportunity to become a mentor!

Alaska

A group of students applied for and met all of the requirements to travel to a remote village in Alaska. They participated in a conference where spiritual and mental healing and growth were the focus…

When your class becomes real…

When learning becomes authentic, student engagement skyrockets!

Our Econ class had an opportunity to travel to a number of local businesses including small shops, family-owned business, and multi-million dollar high rise businesses.

The goal was to see what entrepreneurs do!

After they toured the business they had an opportunity to sit down and have a Q&A with the owner.

We believe LIFE change occurs when students catch a vision for their LIFE.

Shark Tank
DSS Style

The final project for our 4th quarter Economics students was to compete in a Shark Tank experience. Each student created their own business proposals to present to our Sharks (local business persons). With completed plans, each student passed the class and had the chance to win up to a $1000 scholarship… Needless to say, our students rose to the occasion! #TheDSSDifference

Activities

At the heart of our mission is “… a supportive network of caring adults”. We build in purposeful activities to build bonds outside of the classroom so that those strong relationships allow for real growth inside the classroom…

Sporting Events

Our donors bless us with the oppurtnit to take our students to NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB games every year. These events offer a great way to build relationships with our students.

Retreats

We also have the chance to take our students on small retreats. This is possible because donors allow us to use their cabins and vacation rentals.

Camps

Because you care and donate financially our students are able to attend world-class camps. A few of our students just attended NBC camp at CCU. What an experiences!

A Word From Our Students

Without the support of DSS, I’d probably be sitting in jail. Thank you for helping me through all my struggles and for loving me for who I am. This school has helped me become a better person.
