 West Campus

Principal: Denise Gleason

Denise has been at the Denver Street School for 14 years, first as a teacher and then as an administrator. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education from Arizona State University and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Arizona.

Computer & Life Skills Teacher: Vicki Tanin

Vicki has worked at the Denver Street School for over 15 years in various roles.  She is currently teaching Life Skills and Computers.

History & Bible Teacher: Chris Fuller

Chris was born and raised in Alaska which helped persuade him to attended college in a warmer climate. He met and married his amazing wife, and they have had five wonderfully hilarious children. He is a graduate of Grand Canyon University with a B.S. in Secondary Education. He has worked for The Denver Street school for 2 years.He has a passion for at-risk youth and sharing the love of God, DSS is the perfect union of his passions. He looks forward to teaching our students about our history as humans (history) and how Jesus plays the protagonist in that story.


Science Teacher: Adam Dorn

Adam has worked at the Denver Street School for 4 years. Since graduating from North Dakota State University, he has been in schools and programs alongside his wife, Amanda, that work with at-risk youth. He and his wife enjoy serving in ministry together whether its with youth or at their church leading worship.

Math Teacher: Andrew Clawson

Andrew has is currently completing his first year of teaching at the Denver Street School. Andrew graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver with a degree in Applied Mathematics and has sought to bring his enthusiasm and passion for math to the students at DSS. Andrew and his wife have been married for 8 years, have three children, and are excited about serving at DSS.


English Teachers: Amy Miller & Kacy Lou Leyba

Amy is in her second year as the Language Arts teacher at the West campus of the Denver Street School. She attended the University of Northern Iowa and received her degree in English Education. Amy loves building relationships with the girls at DSS and watching God move in their lives.

Kacy is a graduate of the Denver Street School who never quite left. After graduating in 2008, she returned to the East Campus as a volunteer for two years, then was hired at the West Campus as the nursery director. Since then, she has taught everything from pre-kindergarten to high school cooking and English to collegiate level history. Her passion for knowledge and missions work has led her to the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics where she is currently working on her Masters Degree in anthropology and linguistics.


East Campus

Principal: Allison Millmore

Allison graduated from Wheaton College and began the first three years of her career teaching math outside of Chicago, IL She moved to Colorado in 2002. After a couple of turbulent years of questioning whether she had truly followed God with her career choices, God planted her as a math teacher at Denver Street School in 2004. By God's leading, she became the principal of the East Campus in 2011. She has been blessed beyond measure by the staff and students in the ten years with this ministry, and promises to continue leading here until God directs her elsewhere.

English Teachers: Christina Schmitzler & Kacy Lou Leyba

Christina graduated from the College of Wooster in 2005, got a job teaching English at the Denver Street School, packed up her car, and drove to Colorado all the way from her home in New Jersey.  She has been here ever since.  Christina loves grammar, pugs, and is mildly obsessed with the writing of C.S. Lewis.  In addition to English, she is also currently teaching art, and in the past has taught other creative electives such as theater and film. 

*Fun fact: Kacy was Christina's student in high school and now teaches just down the hall from her!

History & Bible Teacher: Mike Brunstetter

Mike was born & raised in Pennsylvania and lived there until he was 26. He graduated college with a BS in Secondary education but at the time, he was also very interested in church ministry. He moved to Anchorage, AK in 2004 to accept a paid worship leader position and also teach at a Christian School there. In 2008, he moved to Denver, CO and God led him to the Denver Street School. He is in his 6th year as a teacher here and has been blessed to serve the Lord in this capacity and reach inner city teens for the Gospel.

Science Teacher: Ben Hammond

Ben is completing his third year of working at the Denver Street School. He grew up in Texas where he went to college at Dallas BAptist University receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Biblical STudies. He and his wife moved to Colorado 8 years ago. He decided to return to school and completed his Masters of Education in Secondary Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment at Jones International University. He and his wife Ashley have two little girls, Ryann (6) and Norah (3).

Math Teacher: Tutu Mulatu

This is Tutu's third year working at the Denver Street School. She has received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Colorado at Denver. After working in higher education, she decided to go back to school to be a math teacher. Learning and education is her passion! She enjoys reading non-fiction books and loves the outdoor world. She is a newlywed and is learning and growing everyday in the Lord.
